NEW VISA RULES ADOPTED IN UKRAINE

Dear Clients and Partners!

Please be informed that the new Rules of issuance of visas in Ukraine became effective on April 16th, 2017.

Which law introduces the changes

- Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 118 dated March 01, 2017

What are the changes

Key novelties:

- Invitations issued by the State migration service of Ukraine are no longer required for obtaining short-term business and private visas. Under the new rules, these visas can be issued on the basis of:

· a formal written application* from a legal entity – resident of Ukraine.

· a notarized application* from an individual (including a foreign citizen residing in Ukraine)

* Applications are to meet requirements introduced by the new rules.

- The procedure for issuing long-term D-visas has been revised – now such visa is issued as multiple-entry for 90 days.

- Visas are processed within 10 business days normally and within 5 business days in case of express arrangement.

- The rules expand the list of countries nationals of which can obtain a visa at checkpoints on the border for business or tourist purposes. The new list includes 33 states:

    - Samoa

    - Barbados

    - Kuwait

    - El Salvador

    - Bahrain

    - Mauritius

    - Saudi Arabia

    - Malaysia

    - Seychelles

    -  Guatemala

    - Mexico

    - Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

    - Honduras

    - Micronesia

    - Singapore

    - Grenada

    - New Zealand

     - East Timor

    - Dominica

    - UAE

    -Trinidad and Tobago

    - India

    - Oman

    - Tuvalu 

Other important changes:

- The following new visa fees have been approved:

· for all types of visas issued by the Ukrainian consulates abroad – USD 65*

· for visas obtained at checkpoints on the Ukrainian border – UAH 2550

*Lower or greater consular fees may be applicable to nationals of certain countries in accordance with international treaties and principle of reciprocity.

- The new rules introduce a possibility of submitting an electronic application for a single entry visa valid for up to 30 days for travelling under business or tourism purposes.

- Short term C-visa can be issued on the basis of a document confirming that a foreign citizen owns real estate in Ukraine.

- Application should be submitted to the Consulate after pre-registration of the visa application form on the website of the MFA of Ukraine. It can be submitted in person, by legal representative or by mail.

The visa application interview can be carried out using remote communications.
